Sample Language for Wills and Bequests

Making a bequest to the Goodnow Library Foundation is an excellent way to support the library that means so much to you and your family.  You can make a bequest of a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after taxes and debts.  Following is sample language you can include in your will:

Specific amount or percentage: 
I hereby bequeath _____% of my estate (or $____ ) to the Goodnow Library Foundation Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at 21 Concord Road, Sudbury, Massachusetts. Tax ID#: 45-0589881.  

 

Residual:
I give, devise and bequest the rest residue and remainder of my estate to the Goodnow Library Foundation Inc, Tax ID#: 45-0589881

You may also include language as to how we can acknowledge your gift or if you wish your gift to be anonymous.

Though not required to inform us in advance, it is helpful for the GLF to know of your gift intentions.  We recommend speaking with your attorney or estate advisor and with your family about your planned giving decisions and your goals.

Unless otherwise stipulated by the donor, bequeathed funds benefit the Goodnow Library Foundation Permanent Fund which is an endowment benefiting the Goodnow Library in perpetuity.
